How to Burn Dreamcast Games

DISCLAIMER: VPNs help keep what you download private. When downloading, remember that HTTPS websites are private when downloading but HTTP websites are public!
To burn a Dreamcast game you will need the following things:
- A computer with a disc drive
- Blank CD-Rs (preferably 700mb ones from Sony or Verbatim)
- The .cdi rom file of the game(s) you are burning
* You can rip the games yourself or find it online. The ladder is illegal in most countries so it is not reccomended especially without a VPN on.
Step 1: Setting up ImgBurn
The first thing you need to do is download this modded version of ImgBurn that supports .cdi burning and Dreamcast's formatting.
Download ImgBurn here
You should have downloaded the imgburn_dreamcast.zip. Open it up and extract all of the contents somewhere.
After it has extracted, run the "SetupImgBurn_2.5.7.0.exe" first and install it in the default location if possible (in Program Files). After ImgBurn is installed, its time to install the Dreamcast plugins.
Run "Install Dreamcast Plugin.exe" and press 'Yes' if it asks for Permission. You should see a message along the lines of "The Dreamcast CDI plugins have been installed". Once that is done, you can continue.
Step 2: Burning
Find your installation folder or look it up in in Windows and open up ImgBurn.

You will want to open up the first option "Write image file to disc".

You will see this screen. If there is no drive in "Destination" and/or the right box of text is empty, then your drive/cd is not detected or not plugged in correctly.
Once you see your drive and cd, click the folder icon at the top right of the "Source" box.

Locate your .cdi file double click it. You are now ready to burn, but double check a couple things before pressing the CD button;
Locate your blank CDs packaging and find the reccomended burn speed for your discs. It will vary from manufacturer and model, but if you can find it that is the speed you should burn your games. However, if you cannot find the burn speed, the slowest your drive will allow would be the safest bet. On the right side of ImgBurn you will see your drives supported burn speeds. You will want to choose the slowest one presented.

I couldn't find the burn speed for my CDs as they were old loose ones in my drawers (lol). My drives slowest speed as shown here is 10x, so I will select "Write Speed: 10x" for this burn. Also, make sure that "Verify" is on so that no errors while burning occur. You are now ready to burn your game!

Let it burn! It may take a while so be patient! If you are using a external drive, when its finished burning the disc will automatically pop out. You will need to close it and press "Ok" on ImgBurn to start the verification to ensure that your burn was successful. After it is done with verifying, you will be able to put it in your Dreamcast and see if it works :-)

*Thank you Toader The Toad for information about slow burning speeds not always being the best and for information about the differences of HTTPS and HTTP download privacy!
